Bensen Creek is open year round - and a reservation is always recommended.
Due to the isolated location, it is important to note that there is no
means of communication except for a satelite phone that is used for emergencies.
Therefore for any change in your plans or menu choices, please contact
me within two weeks of your reservation at the Caribou
House B&B located in Dawson City.
The lodge is located on Bensen Creek, at Kilometre 29 on the Dempster Highway. This is:
- A 20-minute drive from Tombstone Territorial Park
- A 50-minute drive from Dawson City
- A six-hour drive from Whitehorse
- A short flight from Whitehorse to Dawson City airport, where I will pick you up.
Prices
Guests are encouraged to custom-design their own holiday from the list of exciting activities.
A la carte activity prices include:
- $144.00 for two people per night (additional $18.00 for a second bed), and $40.00 per each additional person up to five people sharing the same room in the main cabin. A second cabin suitable for two people at $144.00 per night will be completed by the summer of 2005. Price includes a full breakfast. Weekly rates are also available.
- Three-course meals: $59.95 per person, by reservation only.
- Guests are welcome to cook their own meals for an additional charge of $25.00/day.
- Four-person natural cedar hot tub, heated with wood fire: $30.00 for the first day and $15.00 for each additional day, as the hot tub is both wood and labour intensive. The experience is worth it!
- Hired wilderness guide for hiking, canoeing, snow shoeing, caribou watching: $200.00/day per group plus .48/km for transportation. Includes all equipment except clothing and canoe rental. Canoe rental is $36.00/day.
- Shuttle service from Dawson City airport or return trip to Dawson City: $132.00 per group
- Zodiac boat trips on the Yukon River: $30.00/hr plus .48/km for transportation.
- Dempster Highway sightseeing trips: $30.00/hr plus .48/km for transportation. The Arctic Circle is a 12-hour drive, return.
Terms of business
- All prices in Canadian dollars
- All prices subject to a 7% federal tax (foreign visitors may apply for a partial refund)
- I accept cash, personal cheques and traveller's cheques. I do not accept credit cards at this time.
- A 25% deposit is required at the time of your booking. Full payment is due 30 days prior to arrival date.
- A 25% cancellation fee will be applied for bookings canceled less than 30 days before scheduled arrival.
- I reserve the right to cancel a wilderness activity at any time, if the quality of the activity or safety is judged to be compromised. A refund for 'the activity' will constitute full settlement.
- I reserve the right to cancel a reservation if weather not permitting. ex. extreme temperatures of -40 degrees Celsius and below.
- All guests must sign Assumption of Risk and Release from Liability forms upon arrival.
- All guests must have personal traveler's insurance.
- Schedule: I accommodate new arrivals after 4 p.m. and checkout is 12 p.m.
- All smoking is outdoors.
- Pets are allowed on the main floor of the accommodation, and must be in the care and control of the owner.
